It would be nice to check for_package as well but that needs passing
into dependencies() to work.

This involves fixing a test whose references were wrong, as far as I can
see. The new comment reflects what I think should have been happening
the whole time.

As far as I can tell they are totally non-standard, but apparently
the IMS3000 plays them so I guess we should too.
